The Jackson Central Appraisal District is responsible for local property appraisal and exemption administration in the county. Property appraisals are determined by the appraisal district and used by the taxing entities to calculate and allocate the annual taxes. JCAD also administers and determines eligibility for various types of property tax exemptions that are authorized by state and local governments, such as those for homeowners, the elderly, disabled persons, disabled veterans, and charitable or religion organizations. The Jackson Central Appraisal District employs the chief appraiser, assistant chief appraiser, administrative assistant, field appraisers, and deed clerks.
